Damien Hirst, For the Love of God, Laugh

Damien Hirst art

I really dig this For the Love of God, Laugh 2007 print by Damien Hirst. It is a picture of his iconic sculpture For the Love of God, 2007 which is encrusted. with genuine diamonds. [It is actually the most expensive piece of work created by a living artist]. This silkscreen print, though 2D, is printed with genuine diamond dust mixed in. How cool is that?

This is an example of the stoic principle Momento Mori, in which the skull is a reminder that our existence is short. Since life is short, we should only focus on that which is truly important. David does a lot of these, so it is clearly something he thinks a lot about. I think I like this one the best.
