I really dig this Black Flowers painting by H Schlagen. It is so eye catching and stark. The composition is stellar.

I love the story behind it even more. He said that he found several pupil’s paintings in the street, guess they throw them away after school. Themes were still life with acrylic. He picked them up and used them as initiator for his imagination. Out came a small Chinese child in winter, looking at black flowers.

How serendipitous!

I also love it that something that the artist thought was trash turned out to be a masterpiece.
