Keith Haring, Fiorucci Walls

Keith Haring art

I really dig this mural Fiorucci Walls by Keith Haring. Especially since they just found it, decades later. It was done in 1983. Apparently it was common for him to hide these different places. This is the first time it has been seen.

It is currently on view at the New York City Center on loan from the MACo Museum of Chang Mai for the theater’s 2021-2022 season. The mural has been installed in the Shuman Lounge near the entrance, where audiences can admire it while they are waiting for a show to start.

According to one art historian, Haring “believed installation was a universal way to experience art that could be enjoyed by anyone, anywhere, regardless of education or status, because of its ability to affect an individual bodily.”
