I really dig this self portrait by photographer, Anne Noggle . I just discovered Anne [1922-2005] last night when I went to the opening reception of an exhibition of her work at The Light Factory.
I decided at the last minute to go and I’m so glad I did! She’s really inspiring. Not only was she a successful photographer in her day, but she was a pilot in WW2. Not a feminist by any means, but I LOVE people who break stereotypes. After her service as a WASP in the war, she became a crop duster and a stunt pilot.
She explores the subject of aging, specifically with women where she challenges concepts of beauty and she doesn’t take herself too seriously. Many of her self-portraits disrupt traditional views of aging women with her creation of alter-egos and personas.
