I really dig this Une Place à la Roche-Guyon painting by Impressionist, Camille Pissarro. He’s a classic Impressionist painter and he did this in 1867 when on a trip with Paul Cezanne and Paul Guillemet.
But the cool thing is that it was once owned by Armand Dorville, a Jewish lawyer. He was able to flee the Nazis, hiding his art. He left a very valuable inheritance to his relatives; a collection including Manet, Renoir, Pissaro, and others.
The collection has really been through the wringer, but his relatives were eventually able to sell it to Berlin’s Alte Nationalgalerie
