I really dig this Blast Number 4 painting by Italian painter, Federico Cortese. It is oil on paper. It is definitely op-art.

He says that the concentric circles on the geometric pattern look like a city map, giving the idea of an explosion.

But I think it looks like an explosion of chocolate bars…and I like that better 😉

Federico loves to use layers in his paintings because he says each layer adds something new, but at the same time covers something of the underlying layer.
