I really dig this Holland, Michigan painting by LA artist, Francisco Palomares. It’s oil on wood. This is a plein air piece, which means he took his easel outside and painted straight from nature.

It shows a lush October forest which reminds me of my hikes in the woods that I used to take on Lookout Mountain or on the greenway near our house.

Francisco is known for capturing scenes from his LA neighborhoods, but he couldn’t resist this Michigan one.

He says, “We don’t get seasons like this in Los Angeles.”
