I really dig this Rozdol I piece by Frank Stella. It’s a collage made of felt, canvas and paint on Kachina Board. He did this in 1973. It is a part of his Polish Village series all of which the boards in his works mimic the wooden Polish synagogues built in the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries that were destroyed by Nazis during World War II. I love how he can take something so tragic and take… or rather create something beautiful from it.
