I really dig this Rocky Mountain Birch Trees painting by US artist, Kim Sowa. It’s watercolor on paper. It is so delicately simple, yet complex…if that’s a thing.
I love the bright, warm yellow against the stark black trees. I have a huge affinity for trees, just because there is so much you can do with them and it’s interesting to see different artists’ take on them.
She says, The inspiration came from a photo I took while visiting the Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado.
As an artist I don’t always like to follow rules. I see a material or medium traditionally used one way and think of other methods to alter it into something unconventional.
This is such an elegant painting that it would go great in any room. But I think I’d put it in my den.
Kim is in the Saatchi gallery. She lives and works in Aurora, Illinois. If you dig this as much as I do, here is my link to purchase.
