I really dig this Chester Basin Sunset painting by Canadian artist, Louise Webber, who grew up seeing this site daily and it wasn’t until she moved away and came back for a visit, did she notice how beautiful it was.

Chester Basin is a town in Nova Scotia. It was founded by a guy named Clarence Chester, who had a saying, the world is your basin.

I initially thought this to be a positive adage, likening it to the infamous, the world is your oyster saying. But then I got to thinking, a basin is not an oyster and probably doesn’t contain pearls. A basin is like a tub or something.

So I looked it up, and I was right, it is a washbin.

So he’s basically saying the world is your tub containing your dirty water… which is true.
