I really dig this Across 110th Street painting by Mark Bradford. It was done in 2008. He does a lot of these collage, map-like paintings. He likes to call his art “social abstractions.” They are usually political in nature. Though they may or may not mean to be.

He says that an artist can’t help but be influenced by politics, so they may be political without consciously meaning to be.
