Mehmet Dere

I really dig this!! This Warhol drawing is a part of a larger installation, entitled Papercut, by Mehmet Dere. It is composed of 65 drawings, which aim to show a process, rather than a specific theme.

He got the idea from a notebook he found in his hometown in Turkey, which contained handwritten notes from someone’s French lessons. He was inspired by the ambiguous meaning of the notes.

He searched for Google images which corresponded to the phrases. He, then drew his interpretation of those images. Those drawings are what comprise the Papercut installation.

He wanted to transform situation to process, rather than a presentation of a theme he created. Therefore, each drawing of the installation refers to the randomness of choices and to the fragments of a structure.

Mehmet is in the Saatchi gallery. If you dig this as much as I do, here is a link to purchase.
