I really dig this Feedback painting by Stephanie Dancer. It’s a portrait, but even though I don’t know the person, I can still appreciate it. It reminds me a little of Francis Bacon’s art.

It’s actually inspired by Cindy Sherman‘s portraiture. This piece is a part of her larger ongoing project to use selfies which focusing on non-traditional poses. It’s been an ongoing interest to use selfies to give power back to her subjects. She combines this with abstract marks, intense colour and lighting to allow the viewer many points of entry into the painting.
