Ramal Kim, Two Slices of Watermelon

Ramal Kim art for sale

I really dig this Two Slices of Watermelon still life painting by Azerbaijani artist, Ramal Kim. I think it is a nice reminder of the hot summer days, especially since it has been so chilly. I’ve been missing them!

For some reason I was thinking that Azerbaijan was a desert climate, since it is in the middle East, but then I realized it used to be a part of the Soviet Republic, which is notoriously cold. So then I wondered if they grew watermelon there, but a quick Google search answered my question. They do.

Interesting note: This piece is a still-life; it is somewhat of an anomaly from Ramal’s other work, which is more reminiscent of Francis Bacon or Edvard Munch.

Ramal is in the Saatchi gallery. He lives and works in Belgium. If you dig this as much as I do, here is my link to purchase.
