I really dig this An Opening Into Space, painting by Ulrike Kuhnert, This is an encaustic, which means it is made with hot wax and gesso [a plaster that is used in sculpting].

I love the composition, which makes for a “heavier,” more textural painting, which I find to be more interesting.

I love the idea behind it: an opening into space. Of course could be literal outer space; the colors are appropriate for that. But it could also mean any space.

An opening into a new future…an opening into a new transition…an opening into a new chapter of life. The future is wide open.
