I really dig this Bacon Before Prayer painting by Belgian artist, Willy Branckaerts. This is an homage to the fabulous Irish painter, Francis Bacon. Not to be confused with the philosopher/theologian…who I also dig. [They are related].

Not sure of Willy’s affiliation with Bacon. I imagine he is a fan, like me. I actually almost like Branckaerts’ work better than Bacon’s. I find Branckaerts’ work easier to look at. I’d be more inclined to hang it in my home. Not so much with Bacon’s; whose work I prefer to cringe from a safe distance.

I was first introduced to Bacon the painter at the Hugh Lane Gallery in Dublin where they have literally reconstructed his studio.
