I really dig this Viewing Belgium painting by John Hacking. It could technically be called a collage, because it is a photograph combined with paint. This particular one is a giclee print.
I love paintings of places I’ve never been before. I like it that the sky looks like it’s melting, or on fire and the landscape looks cool. I dig the contrast.
John loves painting landscapes. He finds inspiration from a photograph and takes it from there. He was inspired in 1970 by the Japanese painter Kaij Higashiyama who used self-made pigments. Since then, he has followed suit.
John is in the Saatchi gallery. He lives and works in the Netherlands.
