I really dig this English Rose painting by Alyona Shostal. For one thing, it looks almost 3D in the picture. [It’s not]. I think it’s a unique composition: the English rose superimposed on gold.

I have always loved English Roses. I guess from when the Laura Ashley brand was popular in high school. Everyone had those long floral dresses. I thought they were so glamorous. So English.

Alyona is in the Saatchi gallery. She lives and works in Ukraine.
