Oh My Gosh my car got stolen! [2020 you really suck!] I get up at 3am to go to work. I stepped outside to find my car gone. I didn’t even have time to process this. I had to scramble to call the police, file a report with the insurance, arrange for a ride to work and back; not to mention the foreseeable future.
But then I was able to borrow a car. My dreamy boyfriend took care of everything. Even so, my day was pretty much ruined, so I decided to try to salvage it by working on an art exhibition. So I went to Eastside Local Eatery for lunch. I was pleased to see Lulu Schwall’s art on the walls!
We’ve actually been planning to do this since before CoVid. I had been so excited! It’s such a great new place. But the restaurant was forced to close in the wake of the virus. And I felt bad about complaining because, you know, my art thing not working out seemed like a First World Problem to me in light of everything going on. So the plans were put on hold. It was as though the universe was plotting against me.
Then one day when I heard that they were opening bars and restaurants in Charlotte, I decided to stop by at lunchtime to find out when we could do it. I was surprised to find a line out the door. I didn’t have time to wait on that. So I continued on my errands.
When I went back a couple of days later, they were eager to do it. So I let them pick out the ones that they wanted to show. They picked out 5.
I went back the next day, expecting to see them up, but they had been so busy they hadn’t had time to hang them. Same thing the next day.
I didn’t want to pester because the place is always packed so I stopped checking for a couple of days. But they are now up, in all their glory for your admiration and enjoyment.
It’s a quirky little place, tucked away in the Eastway Shopping Center, a place where some favorite Charlotte haunts are finding new life: VisArt and Tommy’s Pub, to name a few.
Their fantastic chefs create vegan/vegetarian dishes that will make even carnivores’ mouths water. They’ve seriously got the best patio in Charlotte. Such a cool place to hang out.
If you are in the Charlotte area, come see the art before it’s all sold. It could make a great addition [or start] to your collection. It will be there for a week.
