This is another Linda O’Neill that I dig! Not only do I love the Abstract Expressionist composition with all of the colors that suggest being under a literal banana tree, but I didn’t realize that Under The Banana Tree is a metaphor for feeling safe under the umbrella of nature. So I looked it up. I found that it’s a Portuguese saying, meaning “No worries”
I’m going to start using that expression as an homage to this painting! How perfect for our current worry-filled times! If you need me, I’ll be under the banana tree.
