I really dig this Mat painting by Charles Stuart! It is so colorful and happy! My first thought was that the blue square was some sort of doormat, but it could mean “matted” as in tangled, like matted hair. It could stand for Medical Assisted Treatment. Or maybe the guy in the front is named Mat….
At any rate, I love it! It uplifts me.
My work is imagined rather than observed. It is expressive and colourful. I create new images that speak with the past but are not recreations. At the age of fifteen I had no other way in mind. I looked at Modern Paintings and decided “this is for me!” it is painting rather than “Art” that interests me. it’s all about pictures, colour, texture, mark making.. gesture, surface.
Charles is in the Saatchi gallery. He lives and works in the UK. If you dig this as much as I do, here is my link to purchase.
