I really dig this February 1st Limited Edition photogram by German artist, Bernard Schmidt. I love the abstract composition! It is so unique and eye-catching.
This rose is a sign for love.
The photogram made on Kodak Endura paper is cropped as a parallelogram and mounted on Aludibond. [My picture does not show this, but the Saatchi image does].
I did not realize that this is actually NOT made with a camera. A photogram is created by placing objects on photographic paper and then exposing it to light.
Even though I know nothing about this process, I would reckon it is very tedious and hard. I took photography in college and ruined quite a few pictures just because I’m clumsy and couldn’t get the timing just right…all in the pitch black DARK. IT gave me a whole new appreciation for photographers.
Bernhard is in the Saatchi gallery. He live and works in Bavaria. If you dig this as much as I do, here is my link to purchase.
