Claire Desjardins

I really dig this Bright as Quiet painting by Claire Desjardins. The colors are so happy! My first thought was that quiet can be bright, which I kind of like. Meaning that you don’t have to be loud to be shining. But I read that she was in a place that she thought to be too quiet, so she painted something bright and cheerful to liven the place up.

I like it that art can have both meanings.

‘This space is quiet, and needs to be filled with people, noise’. And so started my brightly coloured painting, in an otherwise silent artist residence, in a sleepy town in northern Vermont.

She lives and works in Gore, Quebec.

If you dig this as much as I do, here is my link to purchase.
