I really dig this Squares painting by Filiz Kınalı Kumdakcı. It is geometrically pleasing. I’ve always liked squares, for some reason and this kind of reminds me of the doodles I used to do when I was younger. [I assure you, this looks much better].
Filiz loves to paint. She many different techniques and materials. She is very influenced by her Turkish culture. She especially loves old Turkish or Ottoman handicrafts with marbled floors. She translates those patterns to ceramics.
She writes poetry to go along with her paintings and she says she wants to spend her time dancing to life in her mind. I love that! Boss is yelling at you? Keep dancing. Bills are due? Still dancing.
Filiz is in the Saatchi gallery. She lives and works [and dances] in Istanbul.
