I really dig this Ernest and Ruth sculpture by Hank Willis Thomas. I think it is so clever! Plus, I am a huge Hank Willis Thomas fan, but I think this is by far my favorite. It’s a public installation at the North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh.

This may just look like a cute place to take a selfie, but Thomas always has a deeper meaning conveyed in his works. He’s suggesting the importance of language and creating space for conversations. He wanted a place where others could participate in the art. It’s brilliant!

btw, Ernest and Ruth are Hank’s grandparents.
