I really dig this Girl Reading a Letter at an Open Window painting by Joahannes Vermeer. The painting was done between 1657 and 1659. Only in 1979, did art historians find out about the cupid in the background…and only 4 years ago did they decide to restore it to it’s original intent.

For 3 centuries the girl could have been reading a letter from anyone…her mother…a friend…her child. But now we know the true context of the painting. How cool is that?
