I really dig this Sleeping painting by Japanese artist Kaoru Shibuta. It’s gouache on canvas. It reminds me of some pants I had when I was growing up that I always felt super-cool in!

It also reminds me a lot of Kandinsky’s pieces….And with good reason. Kaoru incorporates musicality into his pieces and also has synesthesia, like Kandinsky did.

Kaoru is from Kyoto city of Japan, but he grew up in the countryside. He says he translates musical notes into images and contemporary installations. The world connected by sound and music links us.

“I usually make use of my synesthesia. I work on expressing classical music, and creating through reading from the land energy.”

Kaoru is in the Saatchi gallery. He lives and works in Japan. If you dig this as much as I do, here is my special link to purchase.
