I really dig this Unbroken collage by Lorna Simpson. I love collages in general, but I especially like this one. I used to collect what I called “old-timey” pictures and ads when I was younger. It reminds me of a lot of them.

Lorna has a similar memory. She used to flip through her grandmother’s magazines. Today she considers it a true history lesson. She likes to portray hair and it’s sense of identity it gives. She uses portraits of women cut from vintage Ebony and Jet magazines.

Lorna is a photographer and multimedia artist, but I love these collages.
