I really dig this Floral Collage by South African artist Nora Lemmon. It is acrylic on canvas. I absolutely love the texture. She came up with a cool way to achieve this. It makes a very interesting and unique composition.
She says that a while back, she had started doing the pour paintings that “were taking the world by storm.” She was able to manipulate the colors by adding silicone, dishwashing liquid, and other substances. [I had no idea you could do this]. She said she tried a new one every day.
The only thing is that this resulted in a lot of wasted paint. So she had an ingenious idea to reuse the waste.
My idea was to harness these liquid puddles of waste and left over already mixed paints and use them to take what is essentially more of a craft and turning it into a work of art. In other words – trying to tame the beast. Many artists use these skins to make jewelry but I have used mine as collage – combining it with paper torn collage.
What a fabulous idea and inspirational process!!
Nora is in the Saatchi gallery. She lives and works in South Africa. If you dig this as much as I do, here is my link to purchase.
