I really dig this Etude 3 painting by Shandor Alexander. I love the texture. I love the colors. I love the composition.

He has a lot of these Etudes. An etude is a short musical composition, created to improve the technique or skill of the player. I like the idea of translating that concept to visual art. It could really be translated to any sort of practice.

I find this very inspiring, that skill is based upon a short little series of practices that build into huge talent.

…AND that in the meantime, even our etudes can be a thing of beauty.
