I really dig this Untitled piece by Sol LeWitt. Even though it is done with gouache, Sol doesn’t consider it a painting.  He considers it a drawing, as he was classically trained in drawing and architectural drafting.

Likewise, he preferred his sculptures to be referred to as “structures.” Even though Untitled is on paper, he preferred to draw on walls

He was a well-known founding member of the conceptual art and minimalist art movements. Simplifying art to it’s most basic forms and colors, he was more concerned with the idea behind the art rather than the execution.

Sol was an American artist. He died in 2007 after a prolific career and many international exhibitions.
