I totally dig this Stefan Kibellus painting, The Nightmare. It is so Edvard Munch or Edward Gorey.

He says, I carried this image idea around with me for a long time. Now it is there. It is painted out of the memory of a dream. It shows my first nightmare when I was six years old. I was in a dark forest and beings in the trees looked at me. From this dream, I woke up with a start.

Childhood nightmares are very powerful. It’s cool that he can turn it into a work of art.

Stefan is in the Saatchi gallery. He lives and works in Germany.
