About

Hi. I’m Brooke. I am your art barista. I am an author and an art appreciater and I am dedicated to bringing you regular doses of art to fuel your day.

I have dabbled in art and graphic design, but I never really was interested in galleries, museums or even fine art until just recently. I had the typical notion that it was old news and that museums were boring until I started researching Hugh Lane.

Hugh Lane

Hugh Lane was a 20th century art dealer who hung out with the icons of art and literature that I learned about in school; the Impressionists and authors from the Irish Literary Revival

Reading about these artists made me see them in a whole new light. These paragons of the Arts…Rodin, Monet, John Singer Sargent; and writers like George Bernard Shaw, William Butler Yeats …were all as unruly as I am!

Hearing the stories of these peoples’ lives was amazing. You really can’t make this stuff up. I found out two things that were pretty revolutionary in my appreciation of art.

1.”History” really wasn’t that long ago.
2. I found out that a good story can change my opinion of a work of art.

The mission of Let’s Talk Art With Brooke is to advocate the exhibition and accessibility of artwork, by promoting galleries and artists.

I wanted to learn all I could about art and artists in general [historic and current]. Should I take a course? Get an MFA? Why not speak directly to the experts.

So that’s what I did. Surprise! They all wanted to talk to me as well and tell their stories. That was in 2016 and it’s still going!

I’ve got some really great interviews: I interview a deaf illustrator, an artist who is in on death row at San Quentin, Mary Englebreit, the host of Treasure Detectives, Curtis Dowling, among others…

On Aug. 13, 2021, I found out I made the Feedspot Top 15 Art History Podcasts list!!!! [& I’ve been on it at every year since then] How cool is that??

Read the blog. Listen to the podcast. Share your own stories in the comments or get in touch with me directly. And if you like what you hear and see, definitely share, like, subscribe. The best way to support me is to use my affiliate links or consider sponsoring the pod so that I can make more valuable content.

  1. Brooke, would I be allowed you use portions of your work in my high school Paint and Draw classes?

    1. Hi Suzanne! Thanks for visiting/listening. What specifically are you wanting to use? The artwork is not mine. I am using with permission. Any of the audio or writing on the blog posts, you may feel free to use…b
