I really dig this Self Portrait with a Fish painting by Borg de Nobel. This is oil paint and copper pigment on acrylic on linen. It totally caught me by surprise! It’s just so random. It cracked me up and confused me. It’s obviously not a self portrait of the artist because the guy with the fish seems to be a male and Borg is a female.

One reviewer says, Though de Nobel toys expertly with the relationship between language and image when she juxtaposes recognizable forms, anyone looking for a story is likely to come up empty-handed.

Borg says, In dutch there’s the expression that says: “Viswijf” It means you talk pretty loud (yelling for selling the fish…)

It’s a puzzle….But it looks cool.
